Luke’s Journey with TEDxAstonUniversity
Hi, I am Luke a 2nd-year student and I am the Head of Internal Experience here at TEDxAstonUniversity. I have been a member of TEDxAstonUniversity since the start of my first year where I started as a member of the Partnership and Finance team.
I chose to join TEDxAstonUniversity to make a positive social impact and after two years, I can tell you that if you join you will too.
Now, that’s a bit of context, so, what does it actually mean to be part of TEDxAstonUniversity? For me, it has been super challenging to balance both university and TEDxAstonUniversity which has meant that I have had to develop and maintain excellent organisational and time management skills. Nevertheless, there have been a couple of last-minute assignment submissions, hey, I am human after all. In my experience, it’s important to understand that you will be required to produce high-quality work and for me, that has meant applying everything that I have learned at university. I have developed a recruitment and selection process, created and organised onboarding and induction events and currently lead a team of 5 really awesome members, so, it’s very similar to a real job and I think is an excellent opportunity to gain some experience, have fun and make a positive social impact.
