TED conference was first hosted 33 years ago in 1984. Since then the organisation has constantly evolved and grown with one purpose: to share ideas worth spreading. Speakers come from all over the world come to share ground-breaking inventions, unique insights, and inspirational stories. The talks are delivered in various fields: art, business, biology, technologies and many more.
The vast universe of ideas and initiatives that is TED today – TED, TEDGlobal, TEDx, TED-Ed, TEDWomen, TEDActive, TED Radio Hour, etc. – are a result of Chris Anderson’s effort to allow anyone to be touched by great ideas. His non-profit called the Sapling Foundation purchased the conference in 2001 and has not looked back since. Find out more about TED.
TEDx events are independently organised events all over the world. These events are held in the spirit of TED with inspiring and mind changing talks. TEDx events bring together thought-provoking ideas and outstanding speakers from various industries.
On 20 May Aston University will host its third TEDx event. This year the theme of the event is “The Time is Now”. We are looking forward to explore “Time” as a precious resource of the 21st century and get inspired by the speakers talking about the importance of taking action now, not waiting for tomorrow or looking back at yesterday.
