Masha Cheriakova is a social entrepreneur born in Belarus and grew up in the Netherlands. Masha believes business is not just about making money but about developing and educating the society. She left Belarus when she was 8 and came back as a grown up to volunteer for one year. Plans changed and since then Masha has deeply connected her life to Belarus. Her passion for social entrepreneurship and mission to promote Belarus in the world has brought her to being the author of a bestselling book in Belarus. Now Masha is the author of 4 books with 3 new books coming in 2017. Currently Masha is writing a travel guide about Minsk for foreign tourists and will start a crowdfunding campaign for that on 1 May. Before she has successfully run two crowdfunding campaigns in Belarus and the Netherlands with the total target of 40 000 GBP.
While being in Belarus Masha has become United Nations innovation consultant and has founded a program for Social Entrepreneurs in Belarus, bringing the knowledge and expertise in this new for the country field. Currently, Masha’s passion for the development of Belarus and social entrepreneurship has grew into a three-year education programme for 300 Belarusians on social entrepreneurship funded by the European Union.
