Ruth is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham in the Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics. She spends her time teaching and writing about storytelling, especially focusing on the stories that people tell in social media contexts. She has written several books including Stories and Social Media, and was the lead author of the student textbook, Researching the Language of Social Media.
Ruth enjoys working collaboratively, and led the Research Network, Transforming Thresholds (2012-14), which explored how museums could use their entrance spaces to improve visitor experience. She is the Editor of Discourse, Context & Media, and convenes BAAL’s Special Interest Group for Language and New Media. After having done a deep research Ruth will share with the audience the insights and power of storytelling in social media. It will definitely be a must listen talk, knowing the current power of social media for both business and personal purposes.
